Hessian Sandbags

The recent local flooding has affected properties that have previously never been troubled before and with warnings that things will only get worse in years to come people are having to plan for future events.

Many people were under the impression that local councils handed out sandbags to help protect properties from becoming overwhelmed with flood water but this is not the case, councils have a responsibility to wider public safety, properties are the responsibility of the owners to protect.

Whenever we have flood risk forecast hessian sandbags fly off the shelves, they are a great way of holding back the water and preventing water ingress into homes.

Many people don’t have the space to store lots of sandbags so why not buy empty hessian sandbags now and store them ready for use when you need them? You can simply come and fill them when you need to and just pay for the weight of sand you need by using our weighbridge. Once the flooding risk has passed you can dig the sand into your garden and store the dried hessian sandbags ready for use again in the future unless there is a risk that the water was contaminated with sewage then government guidelines of safe disposal must be followed.

Hessian sandbags are a cheap and very effective way of dealing with emergency floodwater, they are strong, easy to transport and are less likely to tear and more environmentally friendly than plastic ones.

Come and have a chat with any of our staff if you would like more advice on using sandbags and the best way of using them to protect your property from floodwater.
