Thatcham Baby Memorial Garden completed

The Thatcham Baby Memorial garden is a project that has been under way for many years and today was the official opening of this beautiful tranquil space that has been created.
Back in 2016 plans were made to enhance the bare space that was the baby memorial garden within the Thatcham cemetery, West Berkshire Sands took up the project and raised £13,000 towards it but sadly during lockdown this branch of the charity was closed down and all funds raised were transferred to the main charity.
After lockdown the Forget-Me-Not service and Thatcham Town Council revived the project and managed to retrieve the money from Sands and started fund raising in earnest to reach the £30,000 total required to make this garden a reality, with matched funding from the Greenham Trust and donations from local businesses including ourselves the works could begin!
JB Groundcare carried out the works at a reduced price to make the budget stretch further and we now have a beautiful space for families to come and remember their precious babies, with plenty of seating added, a stunning teddy bear statue with plaques and a gravel area with planters there is now lots of space to spend time reflecting in.
We donated building materials, soil and gravel to help bring make this project a reality and look forward to seeing this garden mature and grow.
