Where Does Porcelain Paving Come From?

Italy Is Porcelain Paving

It’s not your bone china manufacturer. Porcelain tiles are not going to shatter; paving performs at an impressive level.

Porcelain tiles are manmade and may be called vitrified paving, but please don’t think that makes them less enchanting than natural products. Browsing your options soon reveals that Italy is the holy grail for outstanding porcelain products. Adopted in the Netherlands around five years ago, porcelain soon became the “next big thing” in landscaping and design schemes in the UK.

At Rivar Sand and Gravel we have seen a steady increase in the demand for our high quality porcelain paving solutions. Italian porcelain paving products are elegant; enjoy a plethora of finishes, colours and patterns from these clay, feldspar, quartz and mineral composition products.

From its use at noted horticultural and design shows to professional designer and landscaper endorsements, porcelain paving has made its mark in the landscaping world and it is going to be popular for many years.

Strong and attractive statement paving

Porcelain tiles are lighter than and outperform natural stone and timber counterparts. Tiles from our depots at Hare Hatch, Newbury, Tadley and Windlesham are competitively priced and have enduring appeal.

Leading manufacturers choose Italian porcelain for their paving products because it offers exceptional sophistication and strength when fired at temperatures up to 1400 degrees Celsius. The density of the porcelain tiles makes them non-porous; they won’t soak up moisture and so sit well in damp areas, including around swimming pools, which other paving materials find hard to bear.

Veining, feathering, specks, textured, polished surfaces and wood effects are crafted expertly by industry leaders to add unquestionable visual appeal to a hugely practical material. Porcelain paving is often 20mm thick and follows crisp lines; ideal for modern, futuristic and stylish schemes.

Porcelain paving can be installed indoors in kitchens, garden rooms or conservatories and continued outside for garden paths and patios. It unites the spaces, creates flow and never lacks charm.

Practicality and flexibility

Attributes which set porcelain paving above alternatives include its inherent stain, slip, watermark, fade and frost resistance and its ability to cope with any weather.

It’s easy to install, often no sealant is required, and demands low or zero maintenance. You can sit back and relax rather than managing your landscaping. Note: Never use an acidic chemical cleaner on the slabs. An infrequent wash with water is all that you should ever need to give your porcelain paving installation.

For convenience and budget management, porcelain tiles can be purchased individually or to cover specific metres squared. Italian porcelain is not the easiest of materials to cut down, so you may prefer to fill excess edge spaces with another landscaping material to make your project simpler.
