We Love Cotswold Chippings
Cotswold Chippings, Cotswold Gravel, Rivar, Sand, Gravel, Landscaping Materials

At Rivar Sand and Gravel we have the opportunity to see many kinds of gravel and chippings in various finishes, quarried at numerous local sites. We appreciate the aesthetic and functional qualities of each product that we sell.
We only stock the best. After all, isn’t the best possible choice of landscaping materials what our customers want?
We adore Cotswold Chippings because this is such a versatile, economically friendly and local product.
As the name suggests the chippings are quarried in the Cotswolds and we are proud to be able to offer local landscaping materials to our clients at our Thatcham, Tadley and Windlesham bases.
As specialist gravel merchants we can assure you that Cotswold Chippings make excellent and enduring driveway materials, paths, edging to flowerbeds, features and mulching products.
We supply the chippings in small quantities for domestic projects and in bulk for commercial landscaping so whatever your need, we can meet it.
The 900kg bag is around £100 and as a landscaping material, perhaps for a driveway, it should be laid a few inches thick. As a general rule one tonne of gravel or chippings covers approximately twelve metres squared if laid 1.5 to 2 inches deep. You can lay it deeper but we would not suggest a thinner layer because it will compromise the result.
One word of caution and it’s only a small consideration regarding driveway materials; the Cotswold Chippings are crumblier than some other chippings and gravels so it will crush slightly more under the weight of vehicles. A top up every so often will ensure that no ruts appear.
20mm Cotswold Chippings are majestic and they won’t fail to enhance any outdoor space.
The chippings welcoming tone compliments planting schemes no matter how bold or conservative. Chippings won’t travel or spill too much because they are angular which adds natural interest.
There is a 14mm Cotswold Chipping but we tend not to keep this as a stock item, we can purchase it for you as a special order, no fuss and no quibbles
and no nasty price tag.
We’ll be pleased to discuss Cotswold Chipping’s qualities and assess its suitability for your project. We want to ensure that you leave us with the best landscaping materials for your hopes and functionality.
It’s rare that Cotswold Chippings doesn’t match customers’ wishes. If we think that alternatives like Old English Chippings, also called Cotswold
Buff, Moonstone Gravel or South Cerney gravel may be better for you, we’ll tell you.
Heavy vehicles or high volume traffic areas may need a rethink from Cotswold to one of the above. These are stock items so we’ll have no problem providing them.
We have many customers across the south of England who appreciate the allure and benefits of Cotswold Chippings and unless the product is required in 14mm you can take the chippings straight home and get on with your project.
An idea at dawn can be physically accomplished by dusk.
We’re happy to help.
