WBCH Garden Party 2025
WBCH Garden Party 2025
We were very honored to be invited to the West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH) Garden Party this year to celebrate all the volunteers and donors that make the Therapy Garden possible.
The WBCH Therapy Garden is an ongoing project to create a peaceful space for patients, staff and volunteers, Rivar Sand and Gravel have been long term supporters of the garden and we love seeing the improvements that are made each year as it grows and adapts.
There are 45 volunteers that come into WBCH from gardeners and therapy dogs to the listening team and knit and natter all of which help to improve the quality of the stay for patients and day visitors.
As well as volunteer help the garden relies on corporate help, companies that come in and offer a team for labour for a day and companies like ourselves that donate materials for the ongoing maintenance and special projects to improve the space.
Lord-Lieutenant Andrew Try was in attendance and spoke of the community cohesion the therapy garden brings, the garden is such a tranquil space that is well used, as we chatted and ate cake the chef came along to harvest some vegetable from the thriving vegetable garden, he uses as much as he can from the garden in the kitchen so people really are benefitting inside and out from the hard work that everyone puts in.
The WBCH Social Visiting and Listening team recently won a Star award which celebrates success, innovation, and excellence in the NHS, among a long list of support the team gives to patients and their families is the use of the therapy garden proving that this really is a very important space.
We had a lovely afternoon mingling with the guests and hearing how people like to use the garden. Chrissie, the driving force behind the ongoing improvements of the garden has plenty of ideas going forward and we look forward to being able to support them into the future!
