Take a break from idling away the hours under the sun, there’s some creative work to be done.
Summer is an invitation to add or rejuvenate landscaping materials, to install a barbeque area, perhaps splurge on a new set of furniture or lay a turf lawn to be proud of.
Rivar Sand and Gravel has many tempting and cost effective landscaping materials from sleepers to landscaping bark and paving to granite setts and gravel. The ancillary products to lay and manage the installations are held in stock so if you wake up energised and want to recreate your exterior space, we’re ready.
It doesn’t matter whether you have a small courtyard, a sprawling estate or a modest terrace, your garden can look sensational with a bit of TLC.
Turf
Turf suppliers like us appreciate that the lawn is often a victim of weather conditions, weeds, play damage and rubbish. Some patches may host jungle length blades where others are mud or packed soil. Grass seed won’t be summer ready. We’ve got a better solution.
Rivar Sand and Gravel stock top grade turf from market leaders like Inturf and we cut rolls to size, maximise freshness, and you can enjoy delivery or take the turf away with you.
As leading turf suppliers, we can advise you about how to care for your lawn so that it remains special, verdant and sweet smelling. We highly recommend laying topsoil before you install the turf. Fresh topsoil offers nutrients to the lawn that the old earth won’t possess. Think of it as a health tool. The turf will achieve better results than a lawn laid over tired soil.
Inturf Classic turf is available in 1 metre squared rolls, normally at a pocket friendly cost of £3.70 but if you’re quick you can enjoy it at the sale price of £3.50.
Our topsoil is screened down to 15mm and a half bulk bag is just £33.50, a bulk bag is £55.25.
Rock salt as weedkiller
Rock salt is popularly used in winter months to thaw ice and snow, in a sand and salt mixture, but did you know that rock salt is a non-chemical solution for weed and grass eradication during the summer?
Rock salt as a weedkiller is wonderfully effective when it’s applied in the paving cracks and gaps, over driveways and on soil around weeds. It dehydrates the unwanted plants and grass blades that have elected to grow there. They die within days.
The rock salt as a weedkiller should be used cautiously because it effectively sterilises the area it is used on. Nothing will grow on that spot to years, potentially. A water based solution of one cup of rock salt to one gallon of hot water should be used on day one, five days later and after another five days to complete the task.A 25kg bag costs just £5.40.
