Porcelain Paving We Offer
Winchcombe Place, Newbury Care Home, donation, community spirit, Newbury in Bloom

The residents and staff of Winchcombe Place care home in Newbury decided it was time to smarten up their garden, with some residents practically house bound it is so important that the outside space is kept looking bright and interesting but this takes hard work and money.
The staff appealed for ideas from residents, friends and family and it was decided that they would enter Newbury in Bloom as a community project and that is where Rivar Sand and Gravel joined the cause.
The gardens at the home were unkempt, the soil was compacted, hard and full of stones, nothing that has been planted thrived so we donated a blend of soil and compost for them to enrich the ground with.
The community came together and with lots of hard work dug out the beds, planted new plants and created a beautiful garden for residents to enjoy and because the garden is next to a public right of way, people passing by can enjoy the garden as well!
Now residents that suffer from dementia can go out and do a spot of therapeutic gardening if they wish, and everyone from Winchcombe Place can benefit from a lovely place to sit and take in the colours, sights and smells of the garden.
Its amazing what can happen when people and local businesses get together!
