Rivar Sand and Gravel are proud to be supporting the Limbcare garden at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2018!
Ray Edwards is the longest surviving quad amputee and is the chairman and founder of Limbcare, a charity Ray set up 8 years ago which aims to provide a better quality of life for all amputees and the limb impaired.
To raise awareness, garden designer Edward Mairis designed a Limbcare show garden for the Hampton Court Flower Show. The Limbcare garden delivers a message of hope to amputees who have a huge challenge of accepting a dramatically changed life.
Within the garden, key features symbolise how the charity gives hope and security. For example, the bridge over the pebble stream represent the amputee reaching out to the charity and receiving a helping hand. One seating area provides a communal space to share and another seat is an intimate space to get away.
The planting is designed to offer a breathing space away from the clinical environment - a human, calming space where the power of nature to heal is manifest.
Building a show garden is no mean feat, The Garden Concierge landscaping team worked tirelessly and brought Edwards vision to life, with sponsors including Champion Timber and Rivar Sand and Gravel supplying materials FOC to build the garden. That along with a whole army of volunteers joined together to create the tranquil and meaningful garden that can be enjoyed this week at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, a visit there will give you plenty of Inspiration for your garden!
