Rock salt is a winter must-have

Rock salt, also called road salt, is a brown-toast coloured product which is used as a de-icer over exterior surfaces. If you have paving slabs, concrete or granite setts to negotiate each day, this is a perfect safety choice because as it thaws the ice it leaves behind a gritty layer which means better grip for movement along a path or driveway. You can purchase convenient 25kg bags from us for just £5.40. That’s considerably more desirable than a fractured or broken bone. It’s wise to stock up prior to bad weather arriving; many people seek rock salt supplies once ice and snow takes hold and stock can run out, especially during “Beast from the East” conditions.

If you’ve heard of winter grit, this is not the same as rock salt. Winter grit contains sand which tends to remain on the ground after use.
