The customers of the Hungerford Resource Centre are able to make the most of the spring weather, now that they have a beautiful new garden to relax in. This press release from the Resource Centre explains what happened there last year ….

The garden was created for the centre’s customers following a fundraising campaign and invaluable help from individuals, local companies and the wider community.

A relatively blank canvas has been transformed into a sensory space which offer immeasurable benefits to the customers. These include reduced stress, enhanced creativity and improved motor, communication and social skills.

Diana Ivanova, Manager, Hungerford Resource Centre said “Our sensory garden is finally completed, we officially opened it last year but some people were unable at access it. Now it is fully accessible, everyone loves spending time in this beautiful space. We would not have achieved this without the commitment of our staff team, family members, volunteers and the incredible generosity of the local community. Together we created this lovely garden that is now fully accessible to our customer who all have different abilities and needs. It provides a peaceful environment in which people can relax and socialise.”

Rivar Sand and Gravel are proud to have been able to help make this garden a reality, we donated materials and a water feature for the rockery gardens. We have loved seeing how the Resource Centre have made the most of everything that had been donated to them and how the whole community came together to make a difference.

The Resource Centre is a small centre that is open 5 days a week offering services for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and for those who maybe frail or have dementia. The centre offers a very wide range of activities including cooking, crafts, flower arranging, jewellery making and pamper sessions. These activities are tailored to meet the needs and abilities of its customers who can then make the most of the services that the centre has to offer in a safe and professional environment.
