Gravel is a landscaping favourite for commercial and domestic projects. A range of cost effective gravel and stone options for a variety of applications are proudly offered by our teams in Newbury, Tadley and Windlesham.

Value for money combined with easy installation and low maintenance has ensured that gravel remains at the top of the landscaping choices list for novices, designers and landscape gardeners.

Local gravels and products sourced from further afield allow your design scheme to reflect your personality. There’s a gravel and stone solution for traditionalists and party lovers, for delicacy or vibrancy, for pink, green or monochrome visions.

Gravel is fashionably associated with zen gardens and as a mulch for succulents but it truly can be used in any space from a window box to a modest courtyard to majestic driveways and expansive flowerbeds.

Even on the bleakest winter day the gravel works hard to enhance your property’s kerb appeal. Gravel and stone aid winter safety because snow, ice and frost can’t form a solid sheet and this makes your transit around your property far less precarious.

When you call in to Rivar Sand and Gravel you enjoy exceptional customer service, qualifications, knowledge and experience. We’re dedicated to helping DIY projects and commercial landscaping in the planning stages become realities. Ask as many questions as you wish to, we don’t bite, we promise.

We can deliver at your convenience or you can take your stone and gravel away with you in most cases; loose or bagged.

Locally quarried stone and gravel examples:

South Cerney Gravel:

  • This is a 20-25mm classic semi rounded gravel in buff-yellow which can be used widely. Available in gravel bulk bags, half bulk bags or loose.

Cotswold Chippings:

  • 20mm angular and buff-yellow chippings which form a traditional, serene backdrop to planting and other hard landscaping.
  • Cotswold Chippings are slightly crumbly so they aren’t the optimum choice for driveways or heavy pedestrian traffic locations.

Moonstone Gravel:

  • This is striking 10mm or 20mm Thames Valley Flint, quarried in the Thatcham and Newbury areas. It is angular, long lasting, features black, white, brown and grey chippings. The 10mm has fewer brown stones. Moonstone is suitable for almost any application.

Don’t forget…

Weed matting and gravel framework products reduce weeds, increase tidiness and visual qualities to your installation. Laying Core Drive in connectable 1200mm X 800mm sheets results in minimal gravel maintenance on a path or driveway because the gravel sits in its honeycomb shaped pods. A weed membrane attached to the bottom of each sheet reduces weeds.

Weed matting is also sold separately.

Just as there is no limit on your imagination, gravel and stone won’t disappoint you in functionality or aesthetic appeal. Many gravel products offer flexibility and durability as essential attributes. Gravel and stone are the rookie landscaper’s friend and the commercial project manager’s dream material.

From Cotswold Chippings and South Cerney Gravel to Cheshire Pink and Flamingo Gravel, we’ve got the gravel and stone, know-how and experience to make your landscaping project a joy from start to finish.
