Gravel for Paths

Landscaping design budgets are not inexhaustible, even if imagination is.

Our gravel experts at Rivar Sand and Gravel appreciate another fact too; a limited budget for a commercial or domestic project doesn’t mean poor quality or cheerless materials. Far from it.

You have a world of possibilities to play with, without a crippling price tag but offering easy installations, low maintenance, functionality, aesthetic appeal and longevity.

Gravel is perfect for creating spectacular paths and it lends itself to driveways, features, ponds, seating areas, mulching and for covering unattractive drainage covers. 20mm delivers a satisfying crunch underfoot whilst the 10mm is slightly smoother to walk on.

Whether you need a small supply, 10mm or 20mm gravel bulk bags or half bulk bags of 900kg and 450kg respectively, or loose gravel delivered to site or to take away, we’re keen to help you achieve your design scheme efficiently, cost effectively and in a friendly manner.

You may believe that a small stock of gravel is sufficient, maybe it will be, for the moment. However, gravel requires an occasional top-up and it is laid at varying depths dependant on its application. For paths, you need up to 25mm. For driveways, aim for 50mm deep. Remember to factor this in to quantity evaluations, we’re happy to advise.

Remember that different batches present slight variances in the tones of gravel for paths so purchasing another small bag in a year’s time could be less attractive.

Local gravel for paths

We’re proud to stock local gravels like Toffee, Moonstone, Cotswold Chippings and South Cerney Gravel. The captivating Toffee and Moonstone Gravels are quarried in Thatcham and Newbury, right on our doorstep.

  • 20mm Toffee Gravel is Thames Valley flint. It has a rich colouring, encourages warmth and is inviting. It’s a favourite with traditionally minded clients.
  • Moonstone Gravel is available in 10mm and 20mm. An alluring mixture of black, white, grey and brown flint can add personality and charm to any space. 10mm Moonstone Gravel contains less brown flint.
  • Cotswold Chippings are a classic and they never lose their appeal. They’re angular which aids grip and are slightly crumbly.
  • South Cerney Gravel is robust semi rounded 10mm and 20-5mm gravel for paths and almost all other landscaping needs. Some suppliers confuse Cotswold Chippings and South Cerney Gravel. We don’t, you’ll get exactly what you need.

Eye-popping appeal

If these options sound pleasant but don’t offer the spirited party area, attention grabbing punch that you’re aiming to deliver, we have several colour gravels and quartz gravels. Quartz brings shine to the gravel product. Sparkling in sunlight, it has a fairytale quality. It also looks opulent but doesn’t tax the pocket.

We know that your landscaping project is comparable to decorating an outdoor room, we’ll give you and your needs our full attention.
