Eden Garden Project at Wrexham Park Hospital

Rivar Sand and Gravel have recently donated paving to the Wrexham Park Hospital Eden Gardens. After Ryan Alexander Associates transformed the first garden earlier this year they are now working on the second. Volunteers are working on the smaller third garden by planting colourful flowers and shrubs and volunteers are maintaining a fourth garden.

Ryan Alexander Associates are giving their time and expertise free of charge to this amazing project, the courtyard gardens are adjacent to the hospitals haematology ward to give easy access to quite tranquil places for patients and their families to spend time between treatments.

Matron Siobhan Whittaker, said “Treatments such as chemotherapy can be very difficult for patients, but evidence shows that attractive surroundings can help to boost mental health and wellbeing, which in turn can support their recovery.”

We have donated paving to this larger second courtyard garden where tired wooden decking will be removed and paved to make access from the wards easier, which will mean that patients can even be brought out in their beds to get fresh air and enjoy the bright new planting.

The public can give their support to the project by donating to Ryan Alexanders Just Giving page here. Ryan and his crew have also been fundraising, taking part in a Tough Mudder race earlier this year to help raise funds for the project.

There is also a plant bank set up at the hospitals local Pinewood Nurseries (Stoke Poges), supporters can donate the cost of a plant and the money will be used to buy trees, shrubs and flowers for the Eden gardens.
