Product Information

Dimensions

All paving dimensions given are nominal and subject to manufacturer's tolerances. The paving slab size quoted often include for the size of the joint between slabs making it easier to plan a project and order the correct quantities.

As a guide, slab sizes may vary by +/- 5mm and the calibrated paving by +/- 4mm.

Colours

Gravel and stone are natural products and can show variation in shades. The pictures on this website make every effort to give an accurate reflection of the product and we therefore do not accept liability for changes in a natural product. We recommend you visit your local branch before choosing a product. If you are purchasing several packs, we recommend that you mix the paving from several packs to ensure a blended overall appearance. Where possible look to order all the gravel you may need in one delivery to minimise the risk of the same naturally occurring product changing shade of colour.

Natural stone products may contain imperfections including but not limited to mineral deposits which may change over time as the minerals oxidise and can appear as copper or rust staining. Sawn edged or machine finished flags may include minor irregularities and hand cut paving may delaminate slightly.

All paving products can in their early life exhibit efflorescence which may appear as a white deposit and/or apparent colour fading. This is a natural occurrence which Rivar cannot accept responsibility for. Efflorescence will generally diminish over time and there are products to assist with its removal though the manufacturer's guidelines must be followed.

Turf is a living product and should be laid immediately on arrival on site. During periods of high temperatures, we cannot be held responsible for heat stroke to the product either in transport or once delivered to site. Once laid, turf should be watered twice daily until established and furthermore in dry conditions.

All products weather over time and this may appear in the form of fading and/or lichen and other organic growth in certain environmental conditions. Areas close to organic material such as plants may suffer from discoloration. A range of products are available to help remove staining but each product must be used according to manufacturer guidelines.

Our products are intended to be used in a domestic garden setting or in areas of light domestic traffic. Advice should be taken from manufacturers if any doubt exists about product suitability.

Delivery Of Goods

Goods will be delivered to the address given at the time of placing the order. Only a single delivery address can be accepted and we cannot do multiple drops from a single order.

Standard delivery uses a large arctic lorry which may only be able to deliver from a location on the road. The access road to your property needs to be a minimum of 6 metres wide and clear access down this road is your responsibility. If you believe you may have access issues please contact our sales team.

Delivery is made to the kerbside and will be unloaded from the back of the vehicle using a tail-lift (a platform that lowers down. Goods are then rolled by hand so it is important that the delivery area is hard and flat. Grass, gravel and soil are not suitable areas to unload on and it will not be possible to move goods up slopes).

Should the delivery company encounter problems which result from failure to disclose any relevant information about the site, you may be reliable for any cost incurred.

Orders in proximity to our depots (typically along the eastern M3 and M4 corridors) we can deliver on smaller crane vehicles which may be able to access smaller sites - our sales office should be contacted if this delivery option is needed.

We will make every effort to inform you of your scheduled delivery date but they are for guidance only and any failure to deliver on a specified date will not be a breach of contact by us and we will not be responsible for any indirect or consequential loss, damage or expenses howsoever arising out of any problem caused as a delay in delivery. You or your authorised representative must be present to sign on deliver of goods.

We shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or any delay in doing so for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond our control including strike, lock-outs, breakdown of systems, flood, fire or accident.

Your Right To Cancel Your Contract

- You may cancel your contract in accordance to your statutory rights. You must contact us within 14 days of delivery in writing, e-mail or telephone. The product must be unused, as new and as sold, in resalable condition and returned in the original packaging. Please note only full packs can be returned. Bags of cement and turf cannot be returned as they are a perishable item.

- You will receive a full refund of the price paid less relevant collection and re-stocking charges.

Cancellation By Rivar

Every effort will be made to fulfil your order in a reasonable timescale however, we reserve the right to cancel the contract between us if:

- We have insufficient stock to deliver the goods you have ordered.

- We do not deliver to your area.

- One or more of the goods you ordered was listed at the wrong price.

- Due to a typographical error in the description of the goods on the website.

If we cancel your contract, we will notify you by email e-mail and will credit your account any sum deducted. We will not be liable for any additional compensation due to inconvenience caused. The refund will be by the payment method originally used.

Health & Safety

Dry or damp cement and wet concrete or mortar can cause irritation and burns to the eyes and skin. Suitable eye protection and PVC gloves should be worn. If contact with the eyes or skin occurs, irrigate or wash off with water. If irritation persists, please seek medical advice.

Using high speed cutters on concrete or stone products produces dust. If excessive amounts are inhaled, this can cause health problems so suitable goggles and a dust mask should be worn.

Many of our products are heavy and potentially abrasive. Appropriate handling precautions including wearing protective gloves and footwear and obtaining assistance when lifting more than 20kg should be considered.

Please contact our sales team if a product safety data sheet is required.
